By creating an account or using the KrakenKey service, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use our service.
2. Service Description
KrakenKey LLC provides automated TLS certificate issuance, including:
- TLS certificate issuance via ACME / Let's Encrypt
- Automated DNS-01 domain validation via Cloudflare
- In-browser CSR generation with client-side private key creation
- REST API for programmatic certificate issuance
- Web dashboard for domain and certificate management
The service is currently in early access and provided free of charge. Features, availability, and terms may change as the service develops.
3. User Obligations
You agree to:
- Provide accurate information when verifying domains and requesting certificates
- Use certificates only for domains you own or are authorized to manage
- Not attempt to circumvent security measures or abuse the service
- Not use certificates for illegal activities
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
4. Certificate Usage
- Certificates are issued by Let's Encrypt and subject to their Subscriber Agreement
- You are responsible for securing your private keys and installed certificates
- You must not share private keys or certificate credentials with unauthorized parties
- You must notify us immediately of any suspected certificate misuse or key compromise
5. Pricing and Payments
KrakenKey is currently free to use. If we introduce paid plans in the future, we will:
- Notify existing users before any pricing changes take effect
- Process payments through Stripe — we do not store or handle payment card data directly
- Provide clear terms for any paid features at that time
6. Data Processing
We process your data to operate the certificate issuance service. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data collection, use, and your rights.
7. Intellectual Property
- All platform content, software, and tooling are the property of KrakenKey LLC
- You may not reverse engineer, modify, or distribute our platform software
- You may not use our service to infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
8. Service Availability and Disclaimers
KrakenKey is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. As an early-access service:
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or uptime
- Features may change, be added, or be removed as the service develops
- Certificate issuance depends on third-party services (Let's Encrypt, Cloudflare) outside our control
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, KrakenKey LLC is not liable for:
- Any damage caused by certificate misuse or key compromise
- Service interruptions or delays in certificate issuance
- Any loss resulting from your failure to secure private keys or certificates
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the service if you:
- Violate these Terms of Use
- Engage in fraudulent or abusive activities
- Request certificates for domains you do not control
You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@krakenkey.io.
11. Dispute Resolution
- We will attempt to resolve disputes amicably
- If unresolved, disputes will be settled through mediation
- If mediation fails, disputes will be resolved in the courts of the State of Florida
12. Governing Law
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the State of Florida.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Use as the service evolves. We will notify users of significant changes via email or by posting a notice on our website.
